David Tsai Appointed CEO of Crown Resorts Amidst Major Transformation
David Tsai has been named CEO of Crown Resorts, pending regulatory approvals, bringing over two decades of industry expertise to the role.
- Experience: Tsai joined Crown in December 2022 as CEO of Crown Perth and recently served as Acting CEO. His leadership was instrumental in implementing reform and remediation efforts at the Perth property.
- Previous Roles: Before Crown, Tsai spent 15 years with MGM Resorts International, overseeing operations at prominent venues such as MGM Grand Detroit and MGM Northfield Park.
Crown Resorts Chairman John Borghetti praised Tsai’s credentials, stating:
“David is a highly capable, proven and experienced integrated resorts executive who has clearly demonstrated his commercial and strategic ability. Together with his strong cultural and team values, David is well-positioned to lead the continued transformation, growth and future success of Crown’s business.”
Borghetti highlighted Tsai’s focus on enhancing guest experiences across all properties, including planned refurbishments and new venues set to launch in 2025 and beyond.
Tsai expressed optimism about the company’s future, saying:
“I look forward to leading Crown Resorts as CEO through its next phase of transformation and development. With the support of our talented and committed team, our goal is for Crown Resorts to be the ultimate entertainment destination in each of our cities, positioning Crown to thrive long into the future.”
Tsai’s appointment follows a challenging period for Crown Resorts. Earlier this year, the company announced the reduction of 1,000 jobs across Australia, citing economic pressures on the gambling sector and heightened regulatory scrutiny as key factors.
With Tsai’s leadership, Crown aims to continue its transformation and solidify its position as a leader in integrated resorts.
